Troy Trojans Football in the News...
FOOTBALL
| Sears Brewer not Worried about Division Realighnment.
04.14.2012 Scot Brewer is far less worried about Week
11 in 2013 and far more concerned with Week 1 in 2012.
Thursday, the Ohio High School Athletic Association
announced in 2013 it is adding a seventh tournament division
in football. Barring any unforeseen changes, the move will
drop Troy from Division I to Division II. Historically, Troy
always has competed in the OHSAA's largest division - this
will be the first move to a smaller division in school
history.

FOOTBALL
| Sears Signs with Mercyhurst.
02.23.2012 When national signing day came and went -
and no suitors came Alec Sears' way - the Troy High School
senior football player admits he felt a little like the kid
sitting there on Christmas morning with a lump of coal in
his stocking.

FOOTBALL
| Steve Nolan Day Proclaimed.
12.17.2011 Friday afternoon at Troy High School, Troy Mayor
Michael Beamish declared Dec. 22 "Steve Nolan Day" in Troy
by way of mayoral proclamation. That same day, the Troy
Daily News will release a special edition looking back at
Nolan's 28 years at Troy.

FOOTBALL
| Troy Names New Football Coach.
12.03.2011 When it comes to replacing a legend, Scot Brewer
sees far more positives than pitfalls.

FOOTBALL
| Foster Receives All-Ohio Honors.
11.30.2011 COLUMBUS - In a few short weeks, Marcus
Foster will be graduating from high school and moving on to
the University of Cincinnati. Before leaving, however,
Foster had one more accolade to add to his already
impressive list of awards.

FOOTBALL
| Coach Nolan Retires.
11.16.2011 When he arrived in Troy in 1984 from his
previous coaching job in Conneaut, Steve Nolan figured it
would be a weighstation on his road to bigger and better
things. Little did Nolan know at the time, however, he
would find both bigger and better right outside his front
door.

FOOTBALL
| Coach Nolan Retires.
11.16.2011 When he arrived in Troy in 1984 from his
previous coaching job in Conneaut, Steve Nolan figured it
would be a weighstation on his road to bigger and better
things. Little did Nolan know at the time, however, he
would find both bigger and better right outside his front
door.

FOOTBALL
| So Close.
11.06.2011 UPPER ARLINGTON - Officially, the Troy
football team fell one foot short of upsetting Upper
Arlington in the Division I, Region 3 playoffs at Upper
Arlington High School Saturday.

FOOTBALL
| Their Just Rewards.
10.30.2011 While the Ohio High School Athletic
Association won't officially announce playoff pairings until
this afternoon, it would appear as though the Troy football
team's playoff destiny is set.

FOOTBALL
| Dunaway Makes Record Books.
10.29.2011 May's favorite receiver against the Vikings
was his best friend, senior receiver Ian Dunaway, who caught
eight passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Dunaway's
173 receiving yards are the second-highest single-game total
in school history, trailing only Dymond McDonald, who had
233 receiving yards against Centerville in 2001.

FOOTBALL
| Muddy Massacre.
10.29.2011 What amounted to little more than a final
tune-up before next week's playoff game for most of the Troy
football team ended up being the opporunity of a lifetime
for the younger players.

FOOTBALL
| Career Performance.
10.22.2011 Senior quarterback Cody May had a career night
for the Trojans, completing 13 of 20 passes for three
touchdowns and a career-high 224 yards. In doing so, May
also topped the 1,000-yard passing mark for the second
consecutive season - he now has 1,120 passing yards this
year - joining Tommy Myers as only the second quarterback in
school history to do so. Myers accomplished that in 1959 and
1960.

FOOTBALL
| May Makes History.
10.22.2011 TROY - Two weeks ago, Cody May met the legend.
Friday night at Troy Memorial Stadium, May joined Tommy
Myers in Troy football history.

FOOTBALL
| Troy Focused on Miamisburg.
10.21.2011 While others may be calculating the Troy
football team's playoff scenarios - namely, what has to
happen for the Trojans to host a Division I regional
quarterfinal matchup at Troy Memorial Stadium - Troy coach
Steve Nolan is concerned with only one scenario this week.

FOOTBALL
| Foster Ready for the Next Level.
10.21.2011 Facing a team loaded with future Division I
college football players, Macrus Foster proved he fit right
in. "Marcus had an excellent game on both sides of the
ball," Troy coach Steve Nolan said of the Troy senior's
performance against Trotwood-Madison.

FOOTBALL
| Streak Ends.
10.07.2011 The Trojans five game
win streak and being #1 in the Region came tumbling down
Friday night as the Rams came out on top 13-33.
FOOTBALL
| Troy Beats Piqua AGAIN.
10.07.2011 Host Troy improved to 2-0 in the GWOC North
and 6-1 overall with an impressive two-way display against
rival Piqua (3-4, 0-2) for the milestone 200th win in head
coach Steve Nolan’s career at the school.

FOOTBALL
| Change is Inevitable.
10.07.2011 There was a time when it was all so simple -
could Piqua's ball-hawking defense stop Troy's
ground-churning defense? These days - with advances in
the Trojans' passing game - it's not quite so simple.

FOOTBALL
| Expect Anything.
10.07.2011 Steve Nolan knows exactly what to expect
from Piqua's offense tonight at Troy Memorial Stadium.
Anything. And everything.

FOOTBALL
| Seniors Hope to keep Their Streak Alive.
10.07.2011 Troy enters tonight's meeting with Piqua -
the 127th meeting between the two schools - holding a
four-game winning streak over its bitter rival. In a game
already rife with pressure, that's a heavy load to bear.

FOOTBALL
| The Makers of Men.
10.07.2011 Perhaps amidst all the pageantry - the
cheerleaders swaying in rhythmic cadence to the melodious
sounds of the Troy High School marching band, the hundreds
of fans yelling in full throat - Steve Nolan got caught up
in the moment.

FOOTBALL
| The Game.
10.02.2011 For over 100 years Troy has had a historic
rivalry with "that town up north". Since 1899 (consecutively
since 1911) Troy and Piqua have battled on the gridiron in
what has been recognized as a "Great American Rivalry" and
next weekend they will face off for the 127th time.

FOOTBALL
| The Defense Did It.
10.02.2011 Some final notes from the Troy football
team's 49-15 victory over Vandalia-Butler Friday.

FOOTBALL
| Accept No Substitutes.
10.01.2011 After six weeks, the real Troy Trojans finally
showed up Friday night at Troy Memorial Stadium.

FOOTBALL
| "Mr. Consistant".
09.30.2011 Ian Nadolny sat in Troy
football coach Steve Nolan's office Monday, listing the
various attritutes of Trojan linebackers.
A variety of names came up - none of which were his.
Troy's strongest linebacker?

FOOTBALL
| Trojan Guards Latest in a Long Line.
09.30.2011 From Bill Garfield and
Shane Fobian to Chris Jackson and Nick Guziewicz to Adam
Ritter and Josh Mays to Todd Carter and Lee Philpot to Joe
Brading and Daniel Shaw, one thing has seemingly always held
true of offensive lines under Troy coach Steve Nolan - great
guards come in pairs.

FOOTBALL
| Troy faces true test with Aviators.
09.30.2011 Last weekend, Steve Nolan
saw an offensive line bigger than Vandalia-Butler's.
One problem - the Troy football coach saw it while watching
the Pittsburgh Steelers play on television.
"They are huge - they pretty much block out the sun," Nolan
said. "They are about the biggest line I've ever seen."

FOOTBALL
| Tiny but Mighty.
09.23.2011 If there's one thing Zach
Jones has learned in all his years play football, it's that
the biggest way to shut a big mouth is with a big hit.

FOOTBALL
| Troy Can Not Afford Another Slow Start.
09.23.2011 After two weeks of walking
a fine line between success and disaster, Steve Nolan knows
his team's free passes are over.

FOOTBALL
| May on Pace to Make History.
09.23.2011 Four weeks into the
season, Troy quarterback Cody May is right on track to make
history.
In fact, he's ahead of the game.

FOOTBALL
| Troy Overcomes Slow Start Again.
09.17.2011 Cody May started to speak,
then caught himself. You could almost see the Troy
quarterback fumbling to find a word that wouldn't get his
mouth washed out with soap.
"The first half we played like ... well, we played like ...
we played like, not very good," said May, a senior on the
Troy football team. "I want to say another word, but I
won't. Let's just leave it like that."

FOOTBALL
| Trojans Dig Deep.
09.10.2011 With its back against
the wall and the injuries mounting, the Troy football team
dug deep. Deep on the depth chart, that is. On a
team loaded with stars and household names, it was a host of
unfamiliar names that stepped up at key moments to lead Troy
to a 35-11 win over Fairborn Friday at Buschmeyer Field.
With the win, Troy improved to 2-1, while Fairborn fell to
1-2.

FOOTBALL
| Troy Hopes to get Healthy vs Fairborn.
09.09.2011 As concerned as Troy
football coach Steve Nolan is about his team's physical
health - the Trojans suffered a number of injuries in a
physical game with Middletown, ranging from serious to bumps
and bruises - he's far more concerned about his team's
mental health heading into this week's showdown with
Fairborn (1-1).

FOOTBALL
| Injury Forces Troy to Make Changes.
09.09.2011 One injury along the
Troy football team's offensive line has set in place a
series of changes that is going to revamp the Trojans'
entire offensive and defensive lines. Welcome to the
"butterfly effect."

FOOTBALL
| To the Bitter End.
09.03.2011 Marcus Foster has a simple
message for the Troy fans who started heading for the exits
when the Troy football team got down two touchdowns late in
the fourth quarter Friday against Middletown. Don't do that
again. Ever.

FOOTBALL
| Middies a Tough Test for the Trojans.
09.02.2011 Steve Nolan found a pretty
easy plan to replicate Middletown all-world quarterback
Jalin Marshall and the Middies' bone-crunching defense in
practice this week. He didn't even bother trying.

FOOTBALL
| Young Offensive Line Coming Together.
09.02.2011 Hard to blame Steve Nolan
for not knowing for sure what to expect from his offensive
line last Friday in the season opener against Chaminade
Julienne.

FOOTBALL
| Quite the Catch.
09.02.2011 Growing up as a young
football player in Troy, Ian Dunaway knew there was one
position he never wanted to play when he got to high school.

FOOTBALL
|
Troy Blasts CJ in Season Opener.
08.27.2011 When the lights were
shining brightest and the game finally counted, the Troy
football team proved it is, indeed, ready for prime time.

FOOTBALL
|
Troy Beats Dunbar in Sloppy Scrimmage.
08.20.2011 Troy football coach Steve
Nolan likes to use the final scrimmage of the summer to find
little mistakes he can fine tune in time for the regular
season.

FOOTBALL |
Important Lesson.
08.14.2011 Of all the lessons the Troy
football team could have learned from its first season of
the scrimmage Saturday - this one may be the most important:
the disparity between potential and production.

FOOTBALL |
Troy Opens Season with First Practice.
08.03.2011 When Troy football coach Steve
Nolan stood in front of his team at the
Trojans' first practice of the year Monday,
he couldn't help but notice one thing - a
sea of familiar faces looking back at him.

FOOTBALL |
Foster Commits to UC.
04.25.2011 TROY - Marcus Foster always dreamed of using his
athletic skills to earn a college scholarship. The
Troy High School junior just always figured it would be a
basketball scholarship.
