Troy Trojans Soccer in the News...
SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Out of Surprises.
10.28.2011 Entering the season,
not much was expected of the young Troy Trojans. So
they developed a habit of surprising people. And even
though they finally ran out of surprises in a 5-1 loss to
Milford in the Division I District championship game
Thursday night at Franklin High School, the Trojans (11-8-1)
still capped off an impressive tournament run, finishing the
season on a major high note in its final two weeks.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Vikings Finish Trojans.
10.21.2011 CLAYTON - After
playing No. 6 Miamisburg to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 17 - and
with No. 11 Sidney waiting in the semifinal round - the
ninth-seeded Troy Trojans liked their chances of reaching a
Division I Sectional final. But waiting an extra night
to play, a week's worth of rain and a change of venue threw
a monkey wrench into their plans.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Mowery Golden.
10.21.2011 Marissa Mowery watched her
shot from 28 yards away sailing high into the air, powerless
to do anything else after letting it go. Wayne's goalie was
even more powerless.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Just as Planned.
10.19.2011 Heading into the Division
I Sectional tournament opener against a 2-15-0 West
Carrollton team, there was no denying it - Troy expected to
win. And it did exactly that.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Trojans Blank Butler.
10.06.2011 VANDALIA - Needing
one more win heading into the weekend's tournament draw, the
Troy Trojans came up big when they needed. A Leah
Soutar flip throw-in found its way to the back of the net to
put Troy up early against Butler, then Ashley Rector tallied
an insurance goal early in the second half to lead the
Trojans to a 2-0 Greater Western Ohio Conference North
Division victory Wednesday night.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Aviators top Trojans.
10.05.2011 Tuesday, though, Troy
ran into a team trying to rebound from a disappointing
league loss in Butler, and the Aviators outworked the
Trojans at every turn in a 4-1 Troy loss at Troy Memorial
Stadium.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Trojans Finish Off Rams Early.
09.29.2011 TROTWOOD - Troy's
game Wednesday at Trotwood officially ended early. But
it was really over much, much earlier.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Troy Routs Trotwood.
09.28.2011 TROY - The Troy Trojans,
hoping to repeat as Greater Western Ohio Conference North
Division champions, took the next step Tuesday.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Bucs halt Trojans Winning Streak.
09.22.2011 XENIA - Winners of
three straight, Troy looked like it had carried that
momentum into Wednesday's game at Xenia.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Possession Game.
09.21.2011 Xenia possesses one
of the more dangerous players in the entire Greater Western
Ohio Conference. So Troy played a masterful game of
possession and team soccer.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Trojans, Lightning Strike in 7-2 Victory.
09.14.2011 FAIRBORN - After two
straight rainouts, the Troy Trojans finally got enough of a
game in to finish one. The Trojans (3-4) scored the
night's first three goals and the outcome was never in doubt
Tuesday in a 7-2 victory that was called 20 minutes early
due to lightning.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Elks top Trojans.
09.08.2011 CENTERVILLE - For a
half, Troy battled with the No. 2 team in the area,
Centerville. For 70 minutes, the Trojans were within
striking distance. But the Elks tallied two goals in
the final 10 minutes and Troy couldn't find a way to put the
ball in the net as the Trojans fell 3-0 at Centerville on a
cold, wet Wednesday night.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Trojans Hammer Greenville.
09.04.2011 GREENVILLE - The Troy
Trojans turned a slim 1-0 halftime lead into a 7-0 blowout
Saturday night, crushing Greenville in the team's Greater
Western Ohio Conference North Division opener.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Lighting Strikes.
09.04.2011 When the thunder and
lightning suspended the Troy-Greenville game with 9:27
remaining in the first half, the Troy offense had already
struck, scoring five goals in a 21-minute span to take a 5-0
advantage over Greenville Saturday at Troy Memorial Stadium
in the Trojans' Greater Western Ohio Conference North
Division opener.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Trojans Score Early, Pirates Fight Back in 2-1 Loss.
08.28.2011 WEST CARROLLTON -
Troy struck early Saturday, but it would falter as West
Carrollton took advantage of some Troy miscues to score two
goals and take a 2-1 decision at West Carrollton.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
More than a Feeling.
08.28.2011 First-year Troy varsity
coach Mike Rasey just had a feeling. Freshman Kina
Sekito gave the rest of the Trojans a feeling, too - the joy
of victory.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Trojans Fend Off Fairmont Comeback.
08.24.2011 KETTERING - It
happened in the first game of last season. It happened
in this year's season opener. Troy wasn't about to let
the run continue.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Troy Ties Fairmont.
08.25.2011 Leah Soutar, Catelyn
Schmiedebusch and the Troy Trojans celebrated like they had
just won the game.
After the way the first 10 minutes went, they probably
should have.

SOCCER [GIRLS] |
Rallying Together.
08.20.2011 Graduation was painful.
The offseason was tumultuous. For the first time in a
long time, change is not only coming for the Troy Trojans,
it's here - and other teams know it, too. They're more
than ready for it.

SOCCER [BOYS] |
Going for it All.
08.19.2011 How do you follow up a
shared division title? Going after the whole thing.
