Troy Racks Up Eight First Half Touchdowns In Rout Of Central Mountain

Troy easily dispatched Central Mountain, 62-10, in non-league football action.

Troy had four touchdowns in both the first and second quarters as Lincoln Chimics found the end zone three times and in three different ways as he finished with rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a punt return for a touchdown. He had the one carry for 30-yards and two catches for 64-yards.

Evan Woodward was 4-for-5 for 107-yards and three touchdowns with no picks, while Jack Burbage led the team in rushing with three carries for 35-yards a score. Brendan Gilliland had two carries for 22-yards and a touchdown as Kael Millard rushed for 40-yards off two touches.

Also on the receiving end Mason Smith had a 48-yard touchdown reception, and Reed Palmer hauled in a 5-yard scoring catch.

Gilliland got Troy on the scoreboard first with a 12-yard scoring run with 10:09 on the clock in the first quarter. Gavin Lykon-Leffler hit the point after for the 7-0 lead.

Then, with 7:16 left, Chimics took a punt 70-yards to the house for a 14-0 lead after the Lykon-Leffler kick.

Just over a minute later Chimics found pay dirt again with a 30-yard run for the 21-0 lead after Lykon-Leffler's kick.

The final score of the first quarter came when Woodward hit Smith on a 48-yard hook up. Lykon-Leffler’s kick was good, and it 28-0 with 2:18 left in the opening quarter.

Woodward would hit Palmer for a 5-yard scoring pass with 10:26 left in the half, with Lykon-Leffler making it 35-0 by adding the PAT.

Woodward then hit Chimics with a 36-yard scoring strike, pushing their lead to 42-0 after Lykon-Leffler's PAT.

Burbage then added to the score with a 4-yard run with 4:03 left, as Lykon-Leffler made it 49-0 with the point after.

Central Mountain got on the scoreboard with a 32-yard field goal from Mycah Carson with 2:18 on the clock.

But Troy had the final say of the half when Millard ran one in from 36-yards out with just under two minutes to play. Lykon-Leffler split the uprights for the 56-3 halftime lead.

The rest of the scoring was done in the fourth quarter as Cooper Bottorf punched in a 1-yard run for Central Mountain. Carson's kick made it a 56-10.

Marcus Frisbie ran in a score from 19-yards out for the Trojans with 2:23 on the clock, for the 62-10 final.
