
Trojans Double Up Athens, 8-4

Troy scored early and often as they topped Athens, 8-4, in NTL baseball action.
The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, with Athens knotting the game up at 2-2 in the top of the second.
Troy added two more runs in the bottom half for a 4-2 lead. Athens cut it to 4-3 in the top of the third, but a 2-run bottom half saw the Trojans go up 6-3.
Troy added runs in the fourth and fifth to make it an 8-3 lead. Athens got one back in the sixth, but couldn’t mount a rally in the seventh.
Lincoln Chimics (2-for-2) had a double, three runs scored, and an RBI for Troy as Joseph Frye, Evan Woodward (1-for-2), and Trey Teribury (1-for-2) all scored, and drove in a run.
Logunn Heasley and Camden Allen both scored, as Brendan Gilliland had an RBI. Jack Burbage (1-for-2) and Reed Palmer (1-for-3) each added a hit.
Reed Palmer started, and earns the win, going 4 1/3-innings with six strikeouts, four walks, seven hits, and three runs.
Allen went 1 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, one walk, one hit, and one run. Frye tossed the final inning, striking out two.
