Troy had two wrestlers make the podium at the District IV Boys Wrestling Tournament Saturday. Reed Palmer (285) and Garret Parks (107) earned a pair of top six finishes to advance to the Northeast Regional Tournament next weekend.
Palmer went 3-1 on Saturday to take fifth overall, pinning Mifflinburg's Landon Moser in the finals in 18 seconds. Moser defeated him Friday night 6-2.
Palmer won 4-1 over Mt. Carmel's Dominick Lentini in the prelims.
Palmer got a fall over Montgomery's Kaigan Clark to open the consolations, then eked out 2-0 win over Sullivan County's Carter Reis to get into the consolation semifinals. He was pinned by Southern Columbia's Braylin Smith there to fall into the 5th place match.
Parks went 2-2 on the day, opening with a fall over Wyalusing's Logan Wood, then scoring an 8-2 win over South Williamsport's Garrett Bacorn to reach the consolation semifinals.
He lost his final two matches by tech fall to Benton's Korben Callae (17-0), and to Canton’s Levi Vermilya (21-3) to take sixth.
Parks lost 13-10 to Muncy’s Gannon Swank in the prelims.
Hunter Watson (152) came up one place short of also making it to regionals as he took eighth.
Watson won his prelim match 7-0 over Mifflinburg’s Gradyn Shuck, but then lost 17-9 to Loyalsock’s Kayden Keefer in the quarterfinals.
He pinned Central Columbia’s Josiah Hosler in 2:30 during the first round of consolations, but then lost by fall to Hughesville’s Landen Puderbach to fall into the seventh place match.
There he was pinned by Wyalusing’s Jonathan Earle, who took the final qualifying spot.
Keagan Kerr (127) lost by medical forfeit to Mt. Carmel’s Thomas Berezovske in the prelims, then withdrew out of the tournament.
