TROY - Troy made program history with their 60-27 win over Cowanesque Valley on Friday as they claimed their fourth straight NTL title, a first for the school.

"I'm really proud of the kids, it's obviously a hard thing to do," Troy coach Jimmy Smith said. "This is a pretty elite group of seniors. They've won close to 50 games, a district title, a state title, and multiple district title appearances. I'm really proud of this group of kids working harder every week to see what we can do here as the postseason approaches."

The Trojans built a 34-0 lead early into the second quarter before CV got on the scoreboard, and led 40-6 at the half.

Troy rushed for 334-yards on 43 carries as four different backs went over 40-yards, led by Jayden Kutt running for 77-yards and a score on seven carries with Evan Allen running the ball eight times for 50-yards, and two touchdowns.

"They were workhorses tonight," said Smith. "They're big, powerful kids. They're tough kids to bring, they're both 215, 220 pound kids, and when they get going down hill they're tough to tackle."

Blake Putnam had 10 carries for 67-yards and two scores, Logunn Heasley had a 44-yard run, as well.v

Through the air Spencer Martin was 4-for-5 for 50-yards with two touchdowns - hitting Trey Teribury (three catches, 26-yards) and Josiah Pesesky (one catch, 18-yards).

Defensively, Troy got interceptions from Pesesky, Heasley, and Bridon Putnam.

"The defense has been solid all year," said Smith. "I think we leaned on the defense early in the season when we were trying to find ourselves offensively, and they've been the cornerstone of where were at today - keeping us in games when games are tight. Now the offense is opening it up some and we've been able to find ourselves a little bit, have some confidence, and we're in a pretty exciting place."

CV saw Max Millard lead them in rushing with five carries for 71-yards and two touchdowns.

Gavin Churchill was 5-for-10 for 135-yards with a score. Through the air Dave Hess had three catches for 112-yards, and a touchdown.

Allen opened the scoring a 1:10 into the game on a 4-yard run. Landon Lee's kick was good for a 7-0 Troy lead.

At the 6:20 mark of the first quarter Martin hit Teribury for a 19-yard scoring strike. The kick was no good but it was 13-0 Trojans.

With 3:59 on the clock Martin had a 7-yard scoring run, with Lee's kick making it 20-0.

The final touchdown of the first quarter came at the 2:11 mark as Martin hit Posesky for an 18-yard strike. Ethan Hoffman hit the point after for a 27-0 lead.

At the 9:20 mark of the second quarter Allen punched one in from 5-yards out, and, coupled with Lee's kick, made it 34-0.

Millard got CV on the scoreboard with a 17-yard run at the 6:46 mark of the second quarter, but the 2-point conversion was no good.

Troy had the final say of the half as Kutt scampered 25-yards to pay dirt for a 40-6 lead at the half.

Heasley got Troy into the mercy rule with a kick-off return to start the third quarter, as Lee's kick made it 47-6.

Churchill would find Dave Hess for a 78-yard touchdown strike with 5:08 left in the third as Mason Wonderlich made the point after.

With 32 seconds left in the third Blake Putnam scored on an 11-yard run for a 53-13 lead.

Hess would score on an 11-yard run to open the fourth quarter with Wonderlich hitting the point after.

Putnam finished off the Troy scoring on a 10-yard run, with Lee's kick getting them to the 60-point mark.

On the final play of the game Millard had a 41-yard run to pay dirt for the 60-27 final.
